Description
This comes from a large estate sale I recently won. The previous owners were huge collectors of vintage/antique items and kept their collectables sealed inside storage containers. This auction is for one antique Monarch side hand crank telephone. I know very little on these so I will describe as accurately as I can and provide photos.
About this telephone:
Has two labels on the mouth piece. One above mouthpiece says "Monarch Telephone MFG. CO. Chicago, Ill. One below mouthpiece has "L135000". Mouthpiece moves up and down.
Side crank works and when moved it rings the bells very loudly. Crank has no markings.
Side mount & hearing piece: This moves up and down and holds the ear piece that is connected with a cord. Earpiece and mount are black and in very nice condition.
The top box that has the crank and ear piece and mount opens with a easily removed screw. (This box is dovetailed) and inside this box it has alot of parts and all appear to be functional. The coil (that runs the bells) works and is connected with wiring. This "bell" coil has "Pat In USA May 12 1914" on it.
The latch that holds the door closed has two Pat. dates on it...."May 20. 13" and "April 30. 07"
This is a large heavy collectable as this is 32 inches in height, about 12 inches wide. This weighs close to 34 pounds.
Overall very nice condition. There is one crack in the bottom portion of phone as see in last photo.
Please see all photos as this is the exact antique collectable you will receive.
