Description
This is a "WESTERN ELECTRIC" metal wall telephone from probably the 1930's.
It is marked "653" and updated with the
"improved" mouthpiece and the later dial,
a #4-H. It does however, still have the older style induction coil which would make it a model "553". So I guess it's a bit of a Hybrid.
The dial is a #2 that was factory converted to a #4. Still has that loud clackity-clack when the dial returns.
A good-working, good-looking telephone for
every day use or as a functional display of old
time telephony.
A modular line cord is attached for easy connecting in your home!
(As with any rotary dials today, you may have
dialing problems with newer digital service
lines, such as, internet systems, some cable
systems & others. Will always work on traditional
Telephone Company's lines.)
