    THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
The Western Electric 229W candlestick telephone has a very fine original nickel finish. There is a small black button towards the top of the shaft. The telephone is 12” tall. The base is marked Western Electric Company Pat Applied For Pat in USA Aug 16 04 Sept 13 04. The double pole receiver with outside terminals is not marked. The small plate marked Western Electric Company 229W is at the front & bottom of the transmitter head. Also marked 20 MC in back at the top where the thin wire exits & then connects to back of transmitter head. The 20 MC is not easy to read. See photograph. There is a very thick green felt cloth bottom. The shabby green cord appears to be original. I will include 2 original telephone accessories with this phone. One is an unused index of telephone numbers that would have been hanging on the wall beside the phone. Picture on the cover is a candlestick phone similar to the WE 229W. The index was given away by the Fountain Tailor Shop which may have been in a town in VT. It was located on Washington St. & there was a Washington Street in nearly every city in New England. The second item is the New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. directory for Spring 1920 filled with telephone numbers & local advertising. Complete & intact but stained covers. 082021/92BJJ(1)
All of the telephones that I have for sale are being sold “as is” & “as found.” I never did any work to the phones in my collection which was assembled between the years 1990 & 1994. One of the many things I collected during the course of my long career in the antiques business 1977 to 2011 – Warren Antiques in Warren, VT.  Additional telephones for sale on eBay now.
