Description

Civil war token store card type from Springfield, Illinois, 795-A 2a, SINGLE MERCHANT TOWN, R-4, copper. The obverse shows J.C. Yager, Trunk Maker, Springfield, Ill. The reverse shows and open top wreath, with the date, 1863, in the middle. The obverse shows remaining red luster around all the lettering. The reverse shows just a tiny trace of red just at the edge of some of the wreath. The other surfaces on both sides show subdued luster. The obverse shows some slight irregularities from either die preparation or planchet preparation, and some as struck uneveness where the fields join the rim. There are a few small scattered black specks on the obverse.
