Rarely Labeled Ericsson Walnut Ringer Box  -  6” x 8” x4” - Printed on the front is: “The British L.M. Ericsson Mfg Co Ltd Bestow Notts”. This is probably an early version of around one thousand in an old cattle trailer out back. Many are still in wood shipping crates unopened that I've not seen. In some of these crates may be walnut Fiddle-backs. They've been stacked, as well as hundreds of individual boxes like this since 1980, after I bought them from Bob P. He told me that the candlestick phones which were associated with these boxes were laying outdoors waiting to be scrapped; after WWII. These boxes must have been better protected since preservation was evident. They are beautiful when refinished with polished brass bells. This one has a slight bend/warp at each end of the vertical length of the door. Many would overlook it, but if mentioned, you could detect it. It would cease if clamped on both ends and left clamped for a duration. Deemed an early one because of a number of evidences: bluish accessories, large capacitor and 1903 decorative brass bell screws (typical of the early 1900s). The Coventry England Ericsson Factory was blown up during WWII. A diagram inside the door, even though it shows the old parts as prior to 1950, may have been a 1940s version. This box would be a very nice accompaniment to a candlestick (especially LME) especially when/after refinished. The finish is obviously old, mildly distressed and dirty. It looks like they added a 1mf capacitor before unhooking it from usage, possibly in the early 1950s. Two “feet/spacers” are absent from the back, possibly purposed to hang in a special angle.
