The Broas brothers obtained store card tokens from fellow New Yorker Charles Horter.  The brothers were enthusiastic issuers of store card tokens and all of their tokens bear patriotic themes.  A total of seven custom dies were prepared and used to strike tokens for this merchant.  This token combines two of the very similar, but different, custom dies and this die combination was used to strike tokens for circulation on both copper and brass planchets.  One of the dies shows strong clash marks from contact with at least two other dies.  This is a well struck copper specimen certified by NGC.
