    Civil War Store Card for Louis Miller, Barber in New York City

    Louis Miller was a barber who advertised hair products on his Civil War store cards.  Three different token varieties were struck for circulation on copper planchets.  This variety is the scarcest of the three and it is extremely rare in uncirculated condition.  Unlike most Civil War tokens, the design elements of this token are incused on the planchet.  This token was slabbed prior to the publication of the third edition store card book when the variety was listed as a separate merchant and the token label has the old attribution.
