Though not noted on the slab, this token was previously in the collection of Dave Bowers.  It is the plate token for both dies in the sutler token book, though the pictures in the book appear to be enhanced to accentuate its red color.  It is likely that the reverse of the token has lightly toned since the photos for the book were prepared.  The photos on this listing are more representative of its actual appearance.  This token has beautiful color that is mostly red on the obverse and the surfaces exhibit flashy cartwheel luster.  It is a premium quality token.  In my opinion, this is a higher quality token and definitely a more red token that an example of the 5-cent variety graded MS-65 RB by NGC which realized 40 in a recent Heritage auction on August 22nd.
