Description
AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC"MERCEDES"
TELEPHONE DIAL
Nice working example of an earlier "Mercedes" telephone dial, with the
scarcely
-seen Party-Line Number Ring. Number Ring is slightly faded after 80+ years of age.
Has a Solid-Brass polished Finger wheel that really sets it off!
The finger-wheel returns smoothly when pulled around to the
finger stop
, just as it should. The "clickity-click" of the movement is absolutely
rhythmic
as it clicks away at 10pps.

NOTE:
A good collector friend lent some expertise on this dial. His information is below:
"Ray, I don't believe the Mercedes dial is a party line dial. It's a
dial that has letters for the various central offices in large cities
like Dallas in the early teens and twenties. The customer dialed the
central office letter first and then the number if that office. The
offices were connected by trunk lines."
