    THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
    The tapered shaft candlestick telephone is marked DeVeau. The telephone is nickel finish over brass with the tapered shaft painted black. The nickel plating is worn in places where brass is showing thru & the entire front plate of the transmitter head has no nickel plating left. It shows as all brass. The telephone stands 12” tall. The double pole receiver is 6” tall to the top of the outside terminals. Receiver is marked SOLID with a patent date of Aug. 14, 1900. There is no longer a felt cloth bottom. Excellent condition. I found this telephone pictured in the 12
    th
    edition of the DeVeau catalog issued by the distributor George H. Buckminster & Co. Boston. In the catalog it is No. 1187 & referred to as a plug type telephone which came with a separate rectangular box available with 6 to 13 plug in stations. These phones which were available as desk models or wall models were known as Intercommunicating phones which were later shortened to the more punchy Intercom. The catalog pictures the phone as all nickel finished. The catalog can be found on line at telephonecollectors.info. It is made available to the public by the non-profit Telephone Collectors International. 082021/92DEJ(1) All of the telephones that I have for sale are being sold “as is” & “as found.” I never did any work to the phones in my collection which was assembled between the years 1990 & 1994.
