    Civil War Store Card for William B. Smith, Butcher in Detroit, Michigan
    Fuld  MI225BU-1a (copper)     R-5     NGC  MS-64 BN          Finest Known and one of only 2 UNC in the NGC Census
    Mr. Smith obtained store cards from Cincinnati token maker John Stanton.  A single obverse die was combined with two stock reverse dies to strike tokens for circulation on copper planchets.  Extremely rare collector varieties were created for Civil War era numismatists at a later date.  This is a very nice uncirculated specimen of one of the two varieties intended for circulation.  According to the NGC Census, it is the finest known for this variety and one of only two tokens certified as uncirculated by NGC.
