183 "Spacemaker" Wall  Telephone
Up for auction this original Automatic Electric  BLACK 183 Spacemaker telephone from the 1950's and 60's. Black in this phone is hard to find. Undamaged, as found from a collector's estate, all we did was put a line cord on it, and it works perfectly right out of the box.  Nice clean matching handset.  It has a chrome hook in very good condition.  The black coiled handset cord is in good condition, and a brand new 6 ft back modular cord from phone to plug into the wall.  AE dial turns freely and we made a call out just fine. All numbers and letters are crisp and clear.  These were originally made to work with a separate ringer box. This has been bypassed and will NOT ring. Of course, you can answer when another phone in your house rings.  This phone will work on any STANDARD landline. Certain newer modems or other VOIP phones systems will require a "Pulse to Tone converter" to dial out. These are readily available online, otherwise, it's an answer only telephone.
