Historic Classic! This is
the look
that takes any room to another level!!! Not just a beautiful tongue & grove fitted Oak Crank Phone Case, but complimented by the Oil Can Style Straight Shaft Candlestick Phone. Incredibly, everything seems complete & working on this phone as far as can be observed. The Bells will ring when cranked, but sometimes are hit & miss (probably needs a good cleaning). The Chrome Plated Magneto is in excellent, but not mint shape & the phone could use a general cleaning. We only dusted it off & wiped the brass a bit. You can hear static in the ear piece when you turn phone crank.
The oak cabinet looks all original, even has old numbered tags on wires. Still has the cool lightning arrester on top of the box which adds pop, pardon the pun. There are 2 additional approx 36" paired wires in the cabinet, but we are not 100% sure what they are intended to be attached to, but they look original as well.
Please review all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom if needed. There are no serial numbers on wood cabinet or dates on mechanical parts in the cabinet that we could find. The voice amplifier inside the candlestick portion of the phone is marked May 1935 as well as A.E. Co (Automatic Electric Co). Since A.E. appears to have never made a phone like this (that we could find), we think that is a replacement part as most sites date this style phone to about 1900-1915. This could be a Chicago Telephone Supply Candlestick, but may be a Stromberg or Monarch as they were the only ones making similar oil can style straight shafts with the same head links (that we could find after viewing 10-15K of them).
This is the only phone of this model we could find with this wall box & candlestick combo and we have pay sites going back 20 years or more. We have sold a lot of quality antique phones and viewed tens of thousands of them, studied them and enjoyed the process, but we do not claim to be experts on the phones or their inner workings. You can see most of the mechanical parts from our pictures as we opened up pieces as best we could and feel free to ask questions before buying. If any collectors have other positive incites or info, feel free to share & we can add to sale info.
Great phone for the serious collector or someone wanting an 11 on a 10 scale display item. Could easily be cleaned up a bit to almost look new, but we do not alter original classics, we sell them as we find them. The cords have some wear as seen in pictures and there are a few small spots of old paint on upper right of cabinet face, otherwise it looks great. For the age of phone, we would put this in the upper 10% in condition when compared to others from era.

Please Note:
The last picture in the photo gallery is of an antique Ericsson crank phone we have for sale on eBay as well,
it is not included in this sale
, but is for collector's lead only. It is a very rare Ericsson crank phone with an Art Deco look. The Ericsson company was an early leader and pioneers in telecommunications in Sweden and throughout the world and continue to be to the present day. We have much more info in that listing if you care to look.
