1 A Coin Collection Box for 3-Slot Payphone

1 A Coin Collection Box for 3-Slot Payphone - Looks quite early.   Been around. Has a hasp eye protruding out of the front;  was for the hasp on a lid.  Stamped number 29368 (hard to see in photos) and 1 A is stamped into the back. 1-A appears typical of Western Electric number scheme. Ridges are along each side left and right. Slots in the back were for tabs to provide a secure top. About a 3/16” overhang is on the back below the 3 slots. I used to think that there were only two versions of the old coin boxes; but now here is a 3

. It must’ve been in our midst for a number of years and when I encountered it in early Dec. 2020, it was half full of old payphone screws. Like many of the older (I thought 1912 - 1920s) boxes, they ended up as trinket or small fastener bench top containers. I suspect that this is a rare item.
